This beautiful dish has a subtle mid-century aesthetic, with a color that's somewhere between 50's green and 70's green, and a timeless shape that makes it hard to place within the period. The hyalyn Company (my research tells me it's not to be capitalized) made decorative items and lamps bases between 1946 and 1973, so it definitely fall into the mid-century period. It a gorgeous green color with a slight speckle to the the glossy glaze. It may have been made to be purely decorative, or could have been used for serving. The size, shape, and era also make me wonder if it was intended for Japanese ikebana flower arranging?
It measure 8x12, and 1-3/4" deep, with the markings "hyalyn 224" on the back. It's in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, or glazing- a testament to the high quality materials used by the company.
