The 1930's Waring Blendor very well may be one of the first widely marketed countertop appliances in the US, with an interesting story behind it... which you can find in my blog at www.ANStuff.store !
This thing was built to last... and last it did- over 90 years! There's not a stitch of plastic on it, unless you count the rubber coating on the cord, plug and jar rests! There aren't even any gears! It's essentially just a 3 amp motor mounted in a heavy die-cast metal housing, with a fitting on the motor to mate with the jar. To solve the problem of the jar spinning with the motor, it was given a 4-leaf clover shape that meshes with the 4 jar rests. There's only one speed- fast! You can see in the video that the entire unit gives a jump when it starts, showing the motor strength. (In real use you would hold the jar in place.)
If you're fascinated by the design and evolution of consumer products, this is a must have! From its period-appropriate design to its brute strength, the Waring Blendor represents American products at their best: smartly designed, overbuilt, and made affordable by mass production.
This unit is in good working condition and has been cleaned and sanitized inside and out. The motor unit stands 8-1/2 inches tall, and adding the jar makes it almost 16"- taller than a lot of modern blenders- so be sure to measure your space if you're planning to display it in your kitchen or bar. There are some paint chips as can be seen in the photos. Ships free in the US.
