Dansk introduced Flamestone in 1963 and discontinued it in 1985. (There was a "revival" pattern made between 2008-2014.) There were 2 different casserole dishes made, one with a flat lid and this one with the domes lid. The material is a bisque porcelain that has a beautiful matte finish and color that runs throughout, giving it amazing depth. The piece is heavy, designed to heat evenly in the oven. This piece is in good vintage condition- other than a small chip that can't really be seen when closed (see photo with dime for size) there are a few light utensil marks that I didn't attempt to remove for fear of damaging the surface. The interior is evenly crazed, and I'm not sure if that is a sign of age or simply part of the design.
It's a unique piece with a distinctive flair that can be a showpiece with many different styles. Shipping and handling included in the US.
